Grand Theft Auto 6 is releasing on most major platforms, and while a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S day-one launch is certain, there’s a bit of the unknown hanging over the PC version. With GTA 6 expected to sell like hotcakes everywhere, let’s check out the latest on the GTA 6 PC port and when it will release.
Rockstar Games must be feeling the weight of the world on its shoulders about GTA 6. It’s the biggest game ever. Period. No question. The delays are painful, but it means the final product will be out of this world. It’s unclear how smoothly GTA 6 will run on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but those versions are happening, as is a PC presence.
GTA 6 is going to be a beast on PC, so let’s find out when it’s happening.
Is GTA 6 Coming Out On PC At Launch?

Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that GTA 6 will not be on PC at launch, as the game will ‘start with a console or two before branching out.’
If you look back at GTA 5, this shouldn’t be a surprise. Grand Theft Auto 5 eventually came out on PC nearly two years after the original PS3 and Xbox 360 debut!

Sensibly, this was done to optimize GTA 5 and ensure it was ready for a PC port. With GTA 6’s size likely to dwarf GTA 5, there’s even more emphasis on making sure GTA 6 is good to go for a smooth PC experience.
To quote Insider Gaming’s own article on Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick talking GTA 6 not coming to PC at launch:
“When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles,” Zelnick said while also mentioning that it’s not always the case to not release on all platforms at once. He pointed to Civilization 7 as an example of a full multi-platform release that includes PC and Nintendo Switch.”
So, a PC port is happening, just not right away.
When Will GTA 6 Be On PC?
While there is nothing official on this, it’s expected that GTA 6 will not release on PC until later into 2027, possibly even into 2028, based on previous evidence.
Rockstar has refused to commit to a PC release date yet, but this is understandable given the console release still has an aura of uncertainty until it actually happens—another delay could be the latest annoying spanner in the works.

Corsair’s CEO believed GTA 6 was coming to PC in early 2026, but we know delays have altered all plans. If the November 19 release goes ahead, and Rockstar follows a similar pattern to GTA 5 (arriving roughly 17 months later), then it could be as late as April 2028 for a GTA 6 PC port.
