The day has finally arrived when the prices for PlayStation hardware increase once again, and it’s a big one this time around. It comes after weeks of rumours, and now that it’s official, everything has gotten a lot more expensive.
However, it’s not just an increase of a few pennies. Oh no, some of the price increases reach triple digits, and it marks a sad day for the average consumer, as gaming continues to become an increasingly expensive hobby.
With that in mind, here are all of the PlayStation hardware price increases.
PS5 Price Increase, Before & After
The original PS5, with the disc drive, has generally suffered the second-worst when it comes to the global price increases.
PlayStation has offered the new, increased prices for four different currencies, though other currencies will still suffer the same fate. However, with these four in mind, it’s possible to calculate the general price increases, and they’re eye-wateringly bad.

It doesn’t get much better for the Digital version of the PS5, as it‘s dealt a largely similar price increase to the base PS5.

It’s the PS5 Pro that suffers the most from the price increases, with it receiving a whopping $150 price hike in the US—that’s a 20% increase!
With all eyes on the future of gaming and the eventual release of GTA 6, plenty of fans were contemplating getting the latest and greatest PlayStation console to enjoy the year’s biggest release. Now, though, that’s going to cost you a small fortune, and that’s not to say the prices couldn’t be bumped again by the end of the year.
