Gen.G Stay Undefeated At LoL First Stand After Lyon 3-0 Sweep

Gen.G is still undefeated at League of Legends First Stand 2026 after sweeping LCS champions Lyon 3-0.

In an eerily similar series to Bilibili Gaming’s 3-0 stomp of G2 the day prior, Gen.G crushed the hopes of Western fans by showing just how big the gap has gotten.

The LCK champions have only dropped two matches all year and look firm favourites to lift the First Stand trophy – just as they did last year.

The 3-0 win for Gen.G was likely the fastest First Stand series ever, ending after just 76 minutes and 26 seconds and beating Gen.G’s own record from their 77-minute series against JD Gaming.

However, Gen.G was still far off beating G2’s record of the fastest international LoL series ever after beating Team Liquid in just over 70 minutes in the 2019 MSI final.

Gen.G Breeze Past LCS Champions Lyon

Having pushed Gen.G to five games before during his time on FlyQuest, there was hope from North American fans that Lyon jungler Kacper ‘Inspired’ Słoma could work his magic again.

But those hopes rapidly faded as Gen.G completely dominated the first match. Inspired found some good engages but every time the fight would then be turned around by Kim ‘Canyon’ Geon-bu’s Jarvan.

However, in Game 2 Inspired found some more success. He was a menace on Viego, as he usually is, and was genuinely causing problems for Gen.G — Lyon even managed to build a gold lead.

But from the 20-minute mark onwards, Gen.G grouped up more and made sure to jump on Inspired first. He was quickly deleted before he could dish out enough damage to pick up a reset.

And once Inspired was dead, Lyon looked toothless.

Kim ‘Kiin’ Gi-in had completely taken over the game as Ambessa, and he was equally impressive on Jayce in Game 3.

Lyon’s toplaner Niship ‘Dhokla’ Doshi had looked good at the tournament, but he was completely outclassed by Kiin. In the third and final game, Dhokla was 3k gold down on his lane opponent as Gen.G built up a 7k gold lead before the 14-minute mark.

Gen.G eased through to the Knockout Stages and looks set to successfully defend their First Stand title from last year.

Will Gen.G become the first LoL team to complete the golden road? Let us know on the Insider Gaming Discord.

And in more depressing news for Western LoL esports, it appears the LEC may move to online competition next year.
