The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will have another Nintendo Direct livestream on March 9. The announcement was made through the Nintendo Today app.
The movie is scheduled for release in theaters on April Fool’s Day, which is less than a month away. So far, trailers have featured Yoshi, Birdo, Rosalina, and Bowser Jr., and have also referenced several Mario games, including Super Mario Galaxy. However, the movie’s synopsis mentions Wario, and we have yet to see what the character will look and sound like in the film.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Is Headlining Mario’s 40th Anniversary
March 9 is, of course, one day before Mario Day (MAR10 Day). The movie is also the main event of Mario’s 40th anniversary celebration, a fact that disheartens some fans who had hoped the anniversary would be marked by the release of a new 3D adventure starring the mustachioed marvel.
So far, for Mario Day, Nintendo has announced deals on certain games in the franchise and the upcoming release of three classic titles on Nintendo Switch Online. Now, we will be celebrating the upcoming movie again, but everyone continues to wait eagerly for the announcement of the next mainline Mario game.
Insider Gaming will have coverage of whatever is announced during the Nintendo Direct on March 9.
