Sony PlayStation is Shutting Down Bluepoint Games

A new report reveals that PlayStation has decided to shut down Bluepoint Games.

Bluepoint Games has been instrumental in enhancing past titles for the current-gen consoles, including Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Shadow of the Colossus. The team was also responsible for bringing us the PlayStation 5 remake of Demon’s Souls. Now, the studio has been closed down.

Bluepoint Games Will Shut Down Next Month

According to a Bloomberg report, PlayStation has decided to close Bluepoint Games, leading to the dismissal of approximately 70 employees from a total of 80. A spokesperson for PlayStation stated that this decision was made “following a business review.” The shutdown of Bluepoint Games is scheduled for next month. Here is the PlayStation spokesperson’s statement:

“Bluepoint Games is an incredibly talented team and their technical expertise has delivered exceptional experiences for the PlayStation community. We thank them for their passion, creativity and craftmanship.”

Back in 2024, it was revealed that the studio was still working on an original title, with the head of technology stating, “Nothing has changed since our statement that we are working on an original title.” Additionally, the studio was reportedly working on a multiplayer live-service God of War Game, which was cancelled last year.

In other news, PlayStation had two big announcements at the latest State of Play event: God of War Trilogy Remake and the 2D title, Sons of Sparta. Additionally, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is included in PlayStation Plus Game Catalog titles for February 2026.

  • Now it makes sense why GOW remake is at Santa Monica not here. Haven not closed though, neither is Bungie or Hoysemarque. Give it time Bend, Insomniac, Sucker Punch, and Naughty Dog will be next

  • Sony wanted live service and saw that there’s huge negative reception of this genre so the project shuts down and the studio. Kinda sad they could have made more remasters or remakes but i think it’s for the best.
