A new Castlevania game is coming in 2026.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse was announced by Konami during PlayStation’s February 2026 State of Play presentation. The game will follow Trevor Belmont, the last of the Belmont bloodline, in appropriately enough, a metroidvania title.
It was noted that the game is being made by Konami, in collaboration with Evil Empire and Motion Twin. This is the first new game in the series since Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014.
The Legacy of Castlevania Over the Last 40 Years
This game was dubbed the first release to celebrate 40 Years of Castlevania. The original Castlevania game was released in 1986 for the Famicom Disk System and in America on the NES in 1987. Over the next 30 years, there would be legendary releases such as Super Castlevania 4 and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.
The impact of Castlevania was so great that new games in that style are now known as Metroidvanias, cementing the franchise’s legacy for generations to come. Now, Konami is ready to bring the franchise back, potentially redefining the genre named after it.
No release date has been announced for Belmont’s Curse, but the game is expected to release this year. Insider Gaming will keep you up to date on the latest announcements about the upcoming game in the legendary franchise.
