Geoff Keighley has announced the date and venue for The Game Awards 2026, with the event returning in December 2026.
The Game Awards is the most prestigious award show of the year, and that much we have learnt through their viewership numbers. Last year’s edition became the most-watched TGA ever, with over 171 million global livestreams. This year, they might break that record, too, with the roster of games we are looking at in 2026.
The Game Awards 2026 on December 10
As revealed in Geoff Keighley’s latest X post (formerly Twitter), The Game Awards 2026 will return on December 10, a day earlier than last year. The venue is the same, Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and as always, the event will be livestreamed on YouTube and Twitch as well. More details about The Game Awards 2026 will be announced at a later date, and information such as nominations is usually revealed much closer to the event.
The Game Awards is not just known for the award show, which is the main event, but also for all the game reveals and announcements we get in between. The latest iteration had some big names as well, including Tomb Raider: Catalyst & Legacy of Atlantis, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, Divinity, and much more. The reveals for the latest edition might already be in preparation.
In other news, Highguard was meant to ‘shadowdrop,’ but Geoff Keighley wanted it at The Game Awards. Additionally, 37% rated the show a ‘D’ or lower despite impressive viewership.
