It’s a big year for the Pokémon franchise with the celebrations of the 30th anniversary, and there’s a heap of speculation building on the announcements that could be made on Pokémon Day 2026.
With the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 last year, alongside confirmed releases like Pokémon Pokopia in March, there’s plenty of potential for this to be the biggest year for Pokémon yet, especially with the other real-world releases like Poképark Kanto in Japan and the collaboration with the Natural History Museum in London.

When is Pokémon Day 2026?
Pokémon Day 2026, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the franchise, is set for Friday, February 27.
The date marks the anniversary of the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, the first games in the franchise, and is celebrated annually by The Pokémon Company.
This year is slightly different, however, due to the 30th anniversary celebrations, and Pokémon says there will be special releases and milestones across the entire year, meaning the celebrations won’t solely be reserved for a single day.
However, Pokémon Day 2026 is certain to be a big one and could see a slew of news related to the franchise released.
Will There be a Pokémon Presents on Pokémon Day?
There is yet to be an official announcement confirming a Pokémon Presents showcase on Pokémon Day 2026, though it’s highly likely to take place.
The past four years have seen a Pokémon Presents showcased on February 27, while in 2021, the Pokémon Presents showcase aired on February 26, as the anniversary of the Pokémon franchise fell on a Saturday that year.
Before that, several Pokémon Direct presentations took place around Pokémon Day on February 27, including in 2019, where Sword and Shield were revealed, and in 2016, which revealed Sun & Moon.
Due to the trend, particularly in recent years, it is extremely likely that a Pokémon Presents showcase will be aired on Friday, February 27 as part of the Pokémon Day celebrations.
