Just like in the first game, it’s possible to increase affinity with your partners in Code Vein 2. In fact, there’s even a trophy/achievement for raising affinity to the maximum level with at least one of your allies.
The task may sound simple, but it’s actually quite complex and requires many hours of dedication. The worst part of the process is that the game doesn’t provide a bar, counter, or any obvious indicator to show relationship progress. However, there is a way to determine whether the bond is improving in Code Vein 2.
How To Increase Affinity With A Partner In Code Vein 2
First, you need to know that there are three main “actions” that grant experience toward affinity with a partner in Code Vein 2:
- Method 1: Exploring the map normally, defeating enemies, collecting items, and opening chests.
- Method 2: Completing main missions and, when available, side missions. Some characters have their own questlines, and finishing these is mandatory to reach maximum affinity.
- Method 3: Giving gifts. Food items also count as gifts and help increase affinity with a partner.
From here, things get a bit more complex. There’s a hidden limit to how much “experience” you can gain from each type of activity. For example, if you only focus on giving gifts to an NPC, their affinity will never reach the maximum level.
The recommended approach is to focus on a few allies during your playthrough. This way, you can ensure their affinity eventually reaches its maximum. Top suggestions for the Past Era are Josée or Holly, as both have relatively extensive questlines and are excellent in combat. In the Present Era, Noah or Iris is recommended, since both have specific quests.
It’s also vital to collect every item you see, defeat all enemies, and rummage through every chest. Reaching maximum affinity takes a long time.

How To Check Affinity Progress In Code Vein 2
A great indicator that you’re close to maximum affinity is when the character allows you to redeem their unique weapon in this menu. Keep an eye on this to track your progress.
The biggest issue with reaching maximum affinity is that there’s no clear indicator of your current relationship level.
However, characters have a “shop” where you can redeem rewards in exchange for transaction points. Every time your relationship improves with a character, new items will appear in this tab. Keep checking this.
How To Speed Up Maximum Affinity In Code Vein 2
You can farm cooking ingredients and craft multiple food items through the item synthesis menu to gain affinity quicker, and several NPCs, such as Josée, Holly, and Noah, “sell” recipes that are easy to make.
This small trick can save you several hours.
Visit Jadwiga’s Minions scattered across the map—especially the one in the village before reaching the Sunken City—to buy ingredients like Eggs and drastically speed up the grind.
