Unlike other games in the genre, the parry mechanic in Code Vein 2 is not unlocked from the start. In fact, it isn’t even a natural ability of the character, like dodging. If you’re struggling to do it, there’s a very good reason.
The developers lock parrying behind a shield in Code Vein 2. The concept is quite unintuitive, as having a Soulslike without parrying from the get-go might be scary to many. The shield can be obtained early in the game, but unlocking parry requires performing a very specific action. Because of this, players might finish the entire game without even realizing that parry exists in Code Vein 2.
How To Unlock Parry Ability In Code Vein 2
You need the Mutinous Bracer to perform a parry in Code Vein 2, which is obtained from a specific NPC.
At a certain point early in the story, you’ll arrive in MagMell, which will be full of characters from the Present Era. You can talk to your allies to receive side quests and improve your relationship with them by giving gifts.
On the left side of the mansion, near the teleport area, you’ll find the training grounds. Just before the training area, near the staircase, you’ll encounter one of Jadwiga’s Minions. Speak to him to obtain the Mutinous Bracer.
How To Use The Mutinous Bracer & Parry In Code Vein 2
Equip the Mutinous Bracer and activate the item by pressing L1 (or an applicable input on other platforms) to attempt a parry.
Keep in mind that this consumes two units of Ichor, so manage the resource carefully to avoid trouble during boss fights.
Another important aspect is timing. There’s a slight delay in the animation when triggering parry in Code Vein 2. It’s natural to take hits at first until you learn how to use the item properly. If you successfully parry an attack, the enemy will be stunned for a few seconds, giving you the chance to land a powerful counterattack.
