SCOOP: The Island Returns In WWE 2K26 With A New Story

The Island is coming back for another year in WWE 2K26.

Sources close to the game have told Insider Gaming that the mode, which made its debut in WWE 2K25, is coming back with a new story that piggy backs off the ending of last year’s.

An Island In Chaos In WWE 2K26

The story in WWE 2K26 will see a power struggle among three factions on the Island of Relevancy. This is due to the fact that Roman Reigns is no longer the Trible Chief. One of the three factions, Insider Gaming understands, will be called the Order of Anarchy.

In WWE 2K25, The Island was only available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. One thing that wasn’t confirmed was whether the mode will make its way to PC this time around. The mode saw exclusive cosmetics, wrestlers, and more added throughout the year. As far as what’s in store for this year, that will be announced at a later date.

Speaking of a later date, Insider Gaming also understands that select creators have been invited to take part in the annual preview event. Information surrounding the event from those involved is expected to come sometime in mid-February.

WWE 2K26 is expected to launch sometime in March. Platforms haven’t been confirmed yet, but the game is expected to have at least four new match types, among other new additions.

  • The Island was an abysmal game mode in WWE 2K25, and it’ll keep being one in WWE 2K26. It’s just a huge waste of resources that in combination with the glorified virtual Casino called MyFaction further ruins any potential of true greatness this series has had left, and anyone with an iota of true passion for wrestling games should be ashamed of themselves for continuing to ruin this genre by implementing such nonsense.

Like, the very least thing they could do with it, is to turn this huge open “Island Area” into a XXL “Backstage Brawl” area, but that would make it something truly fun and actual potential for the gameplay experience, like the XXL backstage areas in the old SmackDown games, and since fun isn’t allowed at 2K, that won’t happen, and instead we’ll get the same lame overhyped regurgitated rethoric by hypocrites like Lynell Jinks, Bryan Williams, Cornell Gunter etc. about how “they get it” when it comes to all the hatred shit like this receives from people with a genuine passion for wrestling games, but at the end of the day don’t have the balls to stand up against it.

All these resources could have gone into implementing the Iron Survivor Challenge, Fight Pit Matches, genuinely useful items in the creation suites, a proper content update to the create arena & championship mode etc. etc. but nope, forget about that, let’s waste resources on, what at the end of the day, is just a oversized walkalbe menu for what exactly? Lame challenges and shops for digital merch you can put on your CAWs, because f your creativity, just put them in generic Adidas shoes and a WWE logo shirt!

And what do the people who want proper improvement to the actual wrestling game experience get? Stackable tables? I Quit & Inferno Matches? Yeah, I may as well play WWE’13 on Xbox 360/PS3, instead of acting like that is something worth overhyping in the year 2026.

  • If WWE and 2K want me to give them $100 then that requires them to give me a game that’s bug free! Why should I spend $100 a year on broken games?
