Hytale is a completely independent game, and as such, its availability is something of a mystery. Hundreds of thousands and millions of players have purchased Hytale already, but many prospective buyers haven’t been as lucky.
If you haven’t been following, let’s catch you up: Hytale isn’t available on PlayStation or Xbox consoles at launch. Furthermore, Hytale can’t be purchased on Steam, despite it being PC-only at release. This means it’s entirely understandable as to why you’re struggling to buy the Minecraft-like title.
How Can I Buy Hytale?
The only way to buy Hytale right now is to purchase it through the official Hytale Store, via the game’s website.
Follow the instructions to get your Hytale purchase locked in:
- Go to the Hytale official website.
- Click on the Purchase button in the top-right corner.
- Pick one of the various editions, then click Pre-Purchase.
- Make sure you create an account.
- You should now be met with the checkout screen.
- Firstly, check through the Creator Codes list to see if there’s a streamer or content creator you want to support.
- Once you’re done, complete the purchase.
- You now own Hytale and can get it installed to start playing!
It was claimed that Hytale skipped Steam to avoid negative reviews, but the team has since debunked this. Also, a console port is coming later on, which will be easier to purchase through the PlayStation and Xbox stores.
Is Hytale Early Access The Full Game?
Hytale’s early access is a chunk of what the finished product will eventually look like.
Early access is essentially a premium testing period for a new game. You pay a reduced amount to play the game now, so that the developer can identify bugs, add new content, and have the game polished and ready for a full 1.0 launch in the future.
This is the plan for Hytale. It will be in early access for years, meaning if you buy it now, you’re playing a game in ongoing development.
