GTA 6 Might Not Be Content Complete Yet, 2026 Release Still Feels Solid

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 is one of the most anticipated games in the history of the industry. When it launches, it’s expected to be one of the highest-grossing games of all time. However, it might not be complete yet.

In the latest episode of Button Mash, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier spoke about GTA 6’s development and where things stand. According to Schreier, the game still might not be content complete.

“The last I heard, it was still not content complete,” Schreier said (around 5:22 mark). “That is to say people were still finishing things up, still finalizing levels, and missions, and seeing what is going to make it into the game.”

Schreier added that content complete usually comes after feature complete and before but fixing. But, even when it gets to the bug-fixing stage, there are still things that people might want to try and get into the game.

GTA 6 was originally scheduled for release in 2025. However, it was quickly pushed to May 2026 before being moved again to November 16, 2026.

As far as that release date goes, Schreier says that it’s “hard to say” if the game will, for sure, hit the November release date.

“It’s really hard to say right now, and I don’t think anyone at Rockstar can tell you, with 100% certainty, that they will make it out in November,” he said, while adding he says it feels more real than that Fall 2025 date or the May 2026 date. “People feel like this might be a little more solid.

He says that Rockstar can’t settle for anything less than perfection with the release of GTA 6. With that in mind, with the goal of releasing this fiscal year, they do have a bit of a “buffer” as the fiscal year doesn’t end until March 31. That’s not to say that Rockstar is leaning towards a delay, but the option is always on the table if needed. And, as everyone has seen, Rockstar isn’t afraid to delay a game to make it right.

Do you think GTA 6 will see another delay, or will it hit it’s November release date? Leave your thoughts down in the comments and join the discussion in the Insider Gaming Discord server.

  • @Nico problem is these companies have grown arrogant look at Cyberpunk2077 buggy at launch lied to consumers with false advertising and shareholders yet the game came back bigger and profitable same with No Mans Sky. So Take 2 is even more arrogant with legacy IP like GTA and sadly no matter how bad it is idiots will eat slop. Funny the anti AI crowd hasn’t gotten on their high horse calling to boycott the game since it’s probably using AI also over the walkouts,

  • I reckon they will delay to launch with the ps6 and new xbox.

If not rockstar knows if it isn’t perfect nobody will care about what rockstsr ever produces again similar too cdproject and cyberpunk.

  • Well I just recently seen a video that they are polishing the game and finishing up and is fully playable so it will be November 19th 2026 because Rockstar has never delayed a game more then 2 times from original release date

  • They should sell to Microsoft if Take2 is sold it keeps shareholders happy because another delay would be a disaster shareholders were mad before this would crater stock and devalue the company. Selling off covers that and Microsoft needs it 2K launching on Game Pass could boost sales and open the door for Game pass on PS and Nintendo finally.

  • Honestly they should have never announced gta 6 to begin with knowing that they would delay it until it’s ready. They know the public is ready for the game to release. Rockstar knows it’s not complete yet so why bother rushing it? I think they should come clean and just say will reveal official release date once all bugs are worked out and it’s content complete.
