The GTA 6 delay sent more shockwaves throughout the gaming community. It was the delay everyone feared, and it finally came to fruition in November 2025. However, many believe Grand Theft Auto 6 was delayed because of the controversial worker firings, related to supposed leaks, but industry insiders disagree.
We all know the wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to be worth it. The journey itself is just a mental killer because we know how good it’s going to be. It didn’t make the Grand Theft Auto 6 delay to November 2026 any less painful. A common thought going around the community is that this is a reactionary measure because of GTA 6 employees allegedly being fired to prevent a union from forming.
It’s not.
GTA 6 Delayed Due To Rockstar Games’ Perfectionism

Insider Gaming’s very own Tom Henderson has reported for weeks on social media and through the Insider Gaming Weekly Podcast that GTA 6 would more than likely be delayed.
Henderson explained on X:
“Rockstar Games are perfectionists, and Take-Two hasn’t put restrictions on them to delay if they feel like they need to. GTA 6 has never really been on/ahead of schedule, like most games.”
It was in response to a comment questioning if the delay is a sudden tactic in response to the worker firings. It’s all the more relevant since the revelation that one of the fired Rockstar devs has made a counter-claim about the leaking accusations and the case overall.
This sentiment has also been supported by Jason Schreier (through ResetEra):
“This delay was not due to the firings last Thursday. While the fallout from those firings could certainly have a long-term impact on the project and lead to more missed deadlines in the future—due to those vacant roles, protracted legal battles, morale loss, etc.—the game did not slip 6 months because 34 people were fired a week ago. It was announced today because Take-Two reported earnings today.”
The thought and feeling are the same: This is a calculated Grand Theft Auto 6 delay that Take-Two and Rockstar Games have had planned for weeks, maybe months.
So, there you have it. Do you agree or disagree? Is the newest GTA 6 delay an instant reaction to the ongoing events surrounding Rockstar Games? Or is it all premediated? You can tell us via the Insider Gaming Discord Server.
