How to Evolve Eevee Into Espeon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Eevee’s various evolutions have been present in Pokémon titles since Generation 1, but the list has grown in the years since, and it has become more complicated to remember all the methods, making the task to evolve Eevee into Espeon confusing for some players.

Although Eeveelutions are without a Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, they’re still among the most desirable Pokémon to add to your party, and Espeon is a fan-favourite in the franchise that many players will want on their team as soon as possible.

If you want to fast-track your push to evolve Eevee into Espeon, we’ve got a full breakdown of everything you need to do here.

Eevee will only evolve into Espeon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A during the daytime when a high friendship level has been reached.

However, you must check your move set on Eevee before triggering an evolution, as an Eevee that knows a Fairy-type move will evolve into Sylveon instead. If you catch a high-level Eevee from Wild Zone 19, for example, it will already have Charm as a set move, which must be replaced.

Espeon is one of three Eeveelutions that require a high friendship level to be obtained, alongside Umbreon and Sylveon, but it’s easier than ever to achieve the required level in Pokémon Legends: Z-A due to various mechanics that are in the game.

You can quickly achieve a high friendship level with a Pokémon by heading to one of the many cafes scattered around Lumiose City, with about four rounds of drinks being enough to trigger an evolution. Alternatively, if you want to save your hard-earned money, hanging out with your Pokémon on benches also provides a significant boost.

Can You Catch Espeon in Pokémon Legends: Z-A?

No, Espeon cannot be caught in the wild in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, with the only method of obtaining it being by evolving Eevee.

Other Eevee evolutions are available to catch in Legends: Z-A inside Wild Zone 20 as Alpha Pokémon, which unlocks after completion of the main story, but that is restricted to only the Stone Evolutions of Eevee—Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Glaceon, and Leafeon.

Espeon, along with Umbreon and Sylveon, remain as the trio of Eevee evolutions that are exclusively obtained through evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, though you can, of course, trade with another player to tick them off in your Pokédex.

It remains to be seen whether Espeon will be available through a different means when the Mega Dimension DLC launches, but, for now, evolving Eevee into Espeon is the best approach to add the Pokémon to your roster.
