Escape from Tarkov’s First Post-Launch DLC Will Focus on ‘Scav Life’

Escape from Tarkov is preparing to launch into a 1.0 state after more than eight years in beta. It’s the long-awaited next evolution of the spearhead extraction shooter, and Battlestate Games is sparing no effort when it comes to making sure it’s ready for the market.

When Escape from Tarkov is released, it’ll drop on Steam, and there’s already confirmation that a console version is in the works. Not only that, but Battlestate Games has confirmed that the first post-launch DLC for Escape from Tarkov will be dubbed ‘Scav Life’ and will focus on the iconic faction that roams the streets of Tarkov.

Scav Life DLC Could Potentially Explore The Lonely Faction

In a video recorded after the Tokyo Game Show, Battlestate Games’ Nikita Buyanov explained what’s coming in the full launch of Escape from Tarkov. He stepped into the future, stressing that this ‘big and complex thing’ that the team is working on will be something special.

One segment led Nikita to address the post-launch period of Escape from Tarkov, stressing that the first DLC is already in the works:

After the release, we plan to expand the universe more. We will start working on the first DLC, Scav Life, and also a couple of huge events will be right after (the launch).

Here’s the full video from Nikita:

Escape from Tarkov’s Scav characters are a lonely, feral bunch. They occupy (almost) every map in the game, roaming around and picking at the ruins of the city and the surrounding area. They typically sport low-level, degraded equipment, and are more chancers than they are tough fighters.

Players can complete ‘scav runs’ by opting to step into the shoes of a random Scav, rather than their dedicated PMC character, and it’s exciting to know that the faction will be expanded on in some way post-launch.
