There are 20 Outer Dungeons to find and complete in Digimon Story: Time Stranger, split into five different types.
Completing Outer Dungeons provides a quick way to recruit powerful Digimon to your squad, that would otherwise take a lot of grinding Digivolutions for, alongside other rewards, and are necessary to tick off if you’re on a quest for 100% completion.
Thankfully, you don’t have to visit the specific location of the Outer Dungeon every time you want to tackle it, as, once located, they can be initiated from the In-Between Theater.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger Outer Dungeon Challenges, Explained
There are five types of Outer Dungeon in Digimon Story: Time Stranger, all of which have different requirements to be beaten.
For some, survival is the aim, while for others, you’ll need to defeat the final opponent before time expires. Therefore, different approaches and team compositions are required for success. We’ve broken down all the types and how they are beaten below.
- Survive to the End: Survive until time runs out.
- Speed is Victory: Collect speed boosts to race through the track and secure first place.
- Time Attack Boss Battle: Defeat the boss at the end of the challenge within the specified time.
- Protect the Giant Digimeat: Defeat all 30 enemies before they reach the defense line.
- Fight the Ultimate Digimon: Defeat three of the strongest enemies to claim rewards.
