Marathon Closed Technical Test Happening Soon

Marathon, Bungie’s next big FPS under PlayStation, is holding a closed technical test this month.

The title, revealed in 2023, is a new entry in the Marathon series, and a first-party title for PlayStation. Originally set to launch on September 23, 2025, it was delayed due to a number of controversies, including plagiarism. In addition, fan feedback was not too positive, so many changes had to be made. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to see more from Marathon.

Bungie Holding NDA Playtests for Marathon This Month

In a post from the official Marathon account, the game will hold a closed technical test from October 22nd to October 27th. The playtest will be under NDA, so players won’t be able to talk about what they see or play. Sign-ups, as well as more information, are available online until October 16th, and those interested can join at this link. The test will be available on Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. After the playtest, the team promises that we’ll hear more about Marathon, though nothing specific is given.

With how crazy the development of Marathon has been for Bungie and PlayStation, it’s good to hear it’s still alive. There were rumors that the project had been cancelled, but it wasn’t the case. However, it remains to be seen if this version will implement the feedback from fans for the closed alpha in April. Furthermore, many eyes will be on it due to the plagiarism issue that fans caught. In any case, this does provide those who haven’t played the title to finally get to and see if it’s truly the next big thing from the Destiny studio.

Are you going to sign up for the closed technical test? Are you excited for Marathon? Let us know in the comments, on the forums, and in the official Insider Gaming Discord!
