Battlestate Games has unveiled the full list of changes coming to Escape from Tarkov with the ‘softcore update’, now dubbed ‘Road to Release’. This is one of the final updates we’ll see hit Escape from Tarkov before the game is released in a 1.0 state after spending almost a decade as a beta product.
In a post on social media, Nikita Geneburn, head of the studio at Battlestate, confirmed every change coming to Escape from Tarkov as things pivot to something more softcore.
Everything Coming in Softcore for Escape from Tarkov
Nikita posted a lengthy list on social media, revealing everything coming in the softcore update that should arrive on Wednesday, October 8th.
- Decreased inertia – the greater the overload, the greater the reduction (reduction of inertia up to 70%)
- Increased carry weight by 50%
- Added barters for various goods to traders at loyalty level 2 for dog tags
- Reduced aimpunch by 60%
- Increased the quantity of items in areas with valuable items
- Increased the quantity of bag containers and stashes in locations
- Added spawning of weapon cases and other type of cases in Marked Rooms
- Colored access cards spawn more frequently in the Laboratory
- All types items can be traded at the Flea Market
- The Flea Market is available from level 10
- The minimum number of slots in the Flea Market is 5
- Increased skill progression speed
- Increased experience multiplier per raid completion
- Hardcore wipe achievements no longer available for completion
In a wild switch-up from the recent hardcore wipe, Escape from Tarkov will now become something of a playground, taking on more arcade attributes and giving players a walk in the park compared to their usual gruelling challenges.
Some of the game’s more talented players, or those working a grind, have been quick to complain about Battlestate shutting down the ability to unlock the hardcore wipe achievements. This is stopping some players at the final post and blocking them from getting an achievement that they will almost certainly never have another chance at unlocking.
It’s almost guaranteed that these changes won’t impact the PvE mode, but we’ll see.
As stated, the softcore update should land on October 8th. Let me know what change you’re most looking forward to on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
