Battlefield 6 is arguably 2025’s hottest first-person shooter. It’s a long-awaited title that’s the culmination of years’ worth of work from several studios, all under the Electronic Arts umbrella.
With a hefty multiplayer platform, intense campaign offering, and a battle royale component, it’s safe to say that Battlefield 6 is stacked. It’s set to be released worldwide on October 10th, but when can you preload Battlefield 6, and when the time comes, what will the game’s file size look like?
Let’s take a deep dive into that notion and see if we can figure out just how long you need to wait until you can preload Battlefield 6 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
When Can You Preload Battlefield 6?
According to images uploaded on social media, Battlefield 6 is expected to be ready for preload starting October 3rd, which is exactly one week before the game’s release date.
It’s worth stressing that the images captured were taken from a PlayStation 5 version of the game, but it’s relatively safe to assume that preloading will begin on all platforms at the same time.
It’s also important to highlight how the preloading works for Battlefield 6. In the images we’ve seen, users can pick which components of the game they preload, and presumably what they’ll install when the game drops on October 10th.
That means that if you just want the single-player portion of Battlefield 6, you can install or preload just that. That’s the same for those who want to skip the campaign entirely and leap head over heels into the multiplayer portion of the game.
How to Preload Battlefield 6
For now, all we know is how to preload Battlefield 6 on PlayStation 5, but we’ll flesh this out with other platforms as they pop up.
Here’s how to preload Battlefield 6 on PS5:
- First, preorder Battlefield 6 through the PlayStation Store
- Then, open your game library and navigate to the pre-ordered copy of Battlefield 6
- Initiate auto-download, which will also reveal the expected preload date and timer
- Confirm the auto-download function and tick the boxes for the content you want to download on October 3rd
It’s a relatively similar process on Xbox Series X and S platforms and on PC, but we haven’t been able to verify yet if Battlefield 6 can be preloaded on the same day on those platforms.
Battlefield 6 File Size Explained
While we have the information regarding the preload for Battlefield 6, we don’t yet have the game’s file size.
The Battlefield 6 beta was around 40 GB on PC, which is where it occupied the most storage. It was the smallest on PlayStation 5 at just 34 GB.
However, the last Battlefield game, which was Battlefield 2042, came in at a whopping 100 GB on PC but just 42 GB on PS5 and Xbox Series platforms. It’s safe to assume that Battlefield 6 will be somewhere around the same mark, but we’ll confirm that as soon as we’re able.
