Neil Druckmann doesn’t want to give a timeline for when Naughty Dog fans will see more of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
Announced as a surprise at The Game Awards 2024, Intergalactic has been described by Druckmann himself as the “deepest” game in Naughty Dog’s history. Because of that, he knows that anticipation for more information is high for fans of the studio. However, that doesn’t mean he wants to show things when they aren’t ready.
In a new interview with Variety, Druckmann says that what everyone saw during the reveal “doesn’t even scratch the surface” of the game.
“I’ve said this before, but I really mean it, I’m really feeling it right now: It’s the most ambitious game we’ve ever made,” he said. “It’s the most expansive game we’ve ever made, maybe the most expensive, by the time we finish it.”
Druckmann then went on to say that he’s “antsy” to show more and talk about it because of his excitement. Unfortunately, though, there is a lot of alignment that needs to be done before that can happen and it wouldn’t be the smartest idea to promise players something that he couldn’t 100% deliver on.
“[Announcing] a game like this, especially when it’s new IP, especially when it’s coming out of Naughty Dog, you’ve got to coordinate with marketing, with PR, with a bunch of people,” Druckmann said. “So it’d be foolish for me to say when we’re gonna show something right now.”
Intergalactic began its development back in 2020, and features Tati Gabrielle in the role of lead character Jordan. When it does release, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5.
