A good, hard-hitting Metroidvania like Hollow Knight: Silksong can always use a wall jump to improve its platforming.
Thankfully, that is available in the game, going by the name of Cling Grip. This ability lets you grab onto flat vertical walls and jump up them or slide down smoothly.
Like everything else in the game, though, you will not be given it for free. You have to earn it. Here is how to get wall jump in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Where to Find Wall Jump in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Wall jump, or Cling Grip as it is known in Hollow Knight: Silksong, can be grabbed in Shellwood after you defeat the boss of the area, Sister Splinter. Upon her death, you can run to the left, and you’ll be put into a bit of a simple platforming challenge that will lead you to the shrine for your new ability.
Spikes line the walls and floors of this area, and there will be some particularly vicious flowers attacking you as you make your way through. While you can attack and take out some of the enemies in this area by being patient, some you will need to either time and rush by or take a hit to proceed. If you need to build up your silk, try to find an opening to attack one of the bulbs to get your healing back.

While the enemies will be the biggest threat in this challenge, you will also have to focus on pogoing off of some white flowers to get to where you’re going. If you are unaware, these are treated the same way red flowers earlier in the game are, but these will fall away after being struck, so you get one chance to get through, or you will likely fall into the spikes.
After the three white flower jumps in a row, you will go into the next room and can approach the shrine that will let you bind your new wall jump ability.

How Does Wall Jump Work in Hollow Knight: Silksong?
Using the wall jump in Hollow Knight: Silksong is very simple and acts similarly to that of wall jumps you would see in Metroidvanias like Ori and the Blind Forest.
All you need to do is find a vertical wall and jump at it. When you do, Hornet will grab onto the wall and stay motionless for a split moment before she starts sliding down. To move further up, just jump up the wall and keep moving towards the wall so you can grab on again and keep going up.

While the ability to climb up walls quickly is definitely the main focus of Cling Grip, it is also a good way to slowly move your way down walls. There will be times when you can’t see what is below you because of darkness, so sliding down the wall is a very useful way to get down safely without blindly dropping into spikes or an enemy.
