Lost Soul Aside’s review embargo date should be upon us, yet it doesn’t feel like it. The ARPG has wowed everyone with its classic action and hack ‘n’ slash gameplay trailers, but people are concerned about its lack of review presence.
There are so many Soulslike games that it’s hard to keep up. Wuchang is a 2025 release, and I’ve already hyped the pants off of Valor Mortis heading into next year. But fast-paced action games are sorely needed. It’s great to see Ninja Gaiden 4 bring the classic franchise back, and Phantom Blade Zero is distancing itself from the Souls label.
Lost Soul Aside is another action-oriented game, so let’s take a look at what we know about its review embargo date details.
Lost Soul Aside Review Embargo Date Latest, Explained

The latest indicators are that the review embargo for Lost Soul Aside is likely to drop on the game’s August 29 release date.
I think this is the case for a couple of reasons: A big day-one patch is scheduled for launch, which sounds like it’s going to fix a lot of the game. Furthermore, it seems review codes have been going out close to release.
X user Detective Seeds reported that they were only getting their code on August 27—two days from launch.
Getting Lost Soul Aside review code tomorrow. I will post initial thoughts, but there is no way I’ll have full review done in time. I’ll test performance, combat, etc. Review will come later for full thoughts.
We’ve still seen no reviews yet. If this does change, we’ll update this guide with new information on reviews and the embargo.
Why Are There no Lost Soul Aside Reviews Yet?
My guess as to why there are no Lost Soul Aside reviews is that the studio isn’t sure of the game’s readiness.
A general rule of thumb in the game industry is that if reviews come out well before launch, that’s because the company was confident in the product. However, if we’re on the eve of a game’s worldwide debut and there are still no reviews, that’s usually not a good sign.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is a different case, as that’s Team Cherry rewarding its backers and fans. For a big-budget title like Lost Soul Aside, it’s concerning. We already know that copies of the game have leaked early.
Reports on social media and X are that the initial build is “blurry” and “janky.” If this is the case, this might explain why Ultizero Games is withholding the review embargo date until launch—but this isn’t an absolute answer.
Why do you think there are no reviews yet, so close to launch? Are you confident Lost Soul Aside is ready to get the green light? Let me know through the Insider Gaming forum.
