Electronic Arts has been piecing Skate (read: skate.) together for the longest time. It has been more than 15 years since the last release in the series, and skateboarding fans are hungry for more action on the trucks. Following months of testing, the Skate early access date has been revealed, and it’s sooner than you might think.
Read on to learn everything you need to know about getting early access to Skate and on which platforms the game is set to launch.
Skate Early Access Release Date Confirmed
Skate will be released in early access on September 16, 2025. In recent months, Electronic Arts (and playtesters) have posted plenty of content online about Skate’s operating model, maps, modes, moves, and more, giving us more than a fair glimpse behind the curtain at this developing title.
It’s the first major Skate title since Skate 3 surfaced in 2010, becoming a fan favorite and staying there for more than 15 years. Even today, people are still grinding (no pun intended) in Skate 3.
What Platforms is Skate Early Access On?
Skate’s early access release will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC (via Steam, EA, and Epic). It’s a full-fledged offering that covers almost all the bases… almost.
Will Skate Early Access Be on Switch 2?
There’s no indication at present that Skate will be released in any capacity on Switch 2, but never say never! It’s highly likely it will be, considering Electronic Arts has considered the last console generation in the early access release, and that’s becoming increasingly rare.
How Much Will Skate Cost?
Skate is a free-to-download game, which means you can get on board (again, no pun intended) without spending a penny. It’s also fully cross-platform and boasts cross-progression, which means it’s highly accessible.
It has already been stressed by Electronic Arts that regular changes and content drops will occur, even in early access:
Collaborative development with skate. fans and the community have always been a priority throughout our development process. Player feedback has been welcome all throughout playtesting and something Full Circle will continue to look at during the game’s Early Access period. During Early Access, players can expect to see new content every season, offering fresh challenges, cosmetics, music, world updates, and new events each season.
