Whether you’re fighting mobs or a boss, Corruption is a big problem in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. You encounter it regularly throughout your adventure, and if you want the best ways to combat and cure it, I’ve got all the information you need.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers isn’t content to let its bosses demolish you. Mobs can wipe the floor with you in a split-second if you’re not careful, and the world around you is an endless cesspool of status-building damage and traps. Corruption lingers around some of the game’s most claustrophobic areas, and of course, bosses are capable of inflicting it on you.
I initially tried my best to ignore Corruption and let it happen. However, it’s pointless, as it eats away too much at health. It needs to be combated, and we need to be uncorruptible.
What is Corruption in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers?
Corruption is a status ailment in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers that continually eats away at your health if left untreated.
Like most Souls games, Wuchang features a dazzling array of status effects. Some are good, but many are bad. For the most part, Corruption is bad. It can be used both ways as you can deal Corruption damage to bosses, but it can take a while, and many of them move too quickly to consistently pepper them with the ailment.
Instead, let’s focus on self-preservation, shall we? If you’re subjected to Corruption particles for too long, a distinct purple meter fills up on the screen. If it reaches the end, you are on the receiving end of ‘Corruption.’
You will lose HP for as long as you’re affected by Corruption. This puts huge pressure on your Manna Vase supply, and is another unnecessary distraction.
How to Stop Corruption in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
I’ve found two main ways to prevent Corruption: Wear Corruption-resistant gear designed to repel the status, and use Consumables which specifically remove Corruption.
Consumables
Cornucopia Elixir, Fixed Origin Pill, and Purple Camellia are the best items to counter Corruption.
I wouldn’t count on Cornucopia Elixir too much as it’s an extremely rare item to the point you’ll be too scared to use it. It restores all HP and removes all status effects. Whereas the Fixed Origin Pill boosts resistances, meaning it doesn’t negate Corruption, or remove it altogether.
My top recommendation for Corruption is Purple Camellia. More on it below.
Gear
You are bound to pick up a ton of new gear in Wuchang. You can also buy it from merchants. If you reach a boss where Corruption is a problem, I’d consider consulting your inventory to see what applicable attire can shield you.
If you pre-ordered Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the Night Spectre Enhanced Costume Set is a great option throughout the game to resist Corruption. I also found the Fake Monk set another to be superb at overcoming the passive threat.
Scroll through your inventory and pick items that offer the best protection. Doing so won’t stop Corruption altogether, but it takes a lot longer for you to be completely overcome by it.
How to Get Purple Camellia in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
The easiest and most consistent way to obtain Purple Camellia is to purchase it from Wu Gang.
Purple Camellia does the following: “Alleviates Corruption buildup and cures Corruption.” The second you use it, it completely eradicates all traces of Corruption from Bai, and you breathe a huge sigh of relief when it happens—I do, anyway.
Wu Gang becomes attracted to main hub areas like Shu Sanctum and Refugee Camp. He’ll be sitting down and offers Purple Camellia for 160 Blood Essence each.
