Aniplex and Joycity are co-developing Resident Evil Survival Unit—a unique strategy-based Resi title. It’s not your typical Resi experience—which could be a good thing—and we’ve got release information and how to play it.
Certain franchises will always have life in them—which is ironic as Resident Evil delights in taking life away from its human characters and asking the remaining ones to put down the ‘dead’ ones. Morbid reasoning aside, Resident Evil Survival Unit is coming, and it’s a completely different proposition to the highly anticipated Resident Evil: Requiem (the ninth mainline release).
It’s a mobile title with gacha elements as you build your city and recruit legendary characters from the series. If you’re interested, here’s the latest on its release and how to get your hands on it.
Do we Know When Resident Evil Survival Unit is Coming Out?

Neither Aniplex nor Joycity has confirmed when Resident Evil Survival Unit is releasing; however, we know it’s definitely arriving in 2025.
After the game’s full reveal, we learned a great deal about the title. It will have an enormous character list featuring a who’s who of Resident Evil characters from past and present. We’ve also seen the depth of its strategy and building gameplay mechanics.
It shares a lot in common with other free-to-play mobile titles of the same nature. You earn resources, build up your town, and acquire characters to help fight for you. Obviously, the main hook is paying virtual (and real) money for the chance of acquiring the best characters, and rare versions of them at that.
This is how Resident Evil Survival Unit will make money and sustain itself. Again, we’re not sure when you can start doing this, but the official press release states: “The game is scheduled to launch in 2025 across Japan, Korea, North America, Europe, and other regions in Asia.”
How to Play Resident Evil Survival Unit
The best way to play Resident Evil Survival Unit and keep up to date with its latest updates is to sign up for the game’s pre-registration promotion.
Resident Evil Survival Unit’s official website has a full section dedicated to pre-registration. You need to select your platform of choice (Apple or Android), fill out the details and sign up, and doing so not only guarantees you’ll be told when the game is out, but you also secure additional pre-registration rewards.
Is Resident Evil Survival Unit nothing but a cash grab? Or could it be a legitimate free-to-play mobile classic that further enriches Resi’s already ridiculous legacy? I’m keen to hear what ou have to say, and you can drop your thoughts via the Insider Gaming forum.
