Michael Madsen tragically passed away in California on July 3rd, aged 67. The legendary actor was best known for his roles in Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs, but he also appeared in several video games, most notably Grand Theft Auto III, Dishonored, and Crime Boss: Rockay City.
Michael Madsen also had a memorable role in Black Ops 2, and his passing has many Call of Duty fans reminiscing.
Michael Madsen’s Black Ops 2 Role
Michael Madsen played Michael ‘Finn’ O’Leary in Black Ops 2’s Mob of the Dead, a Zombies expansion for the popular 2012 first-person shooter. As one of the most popular and highest-rated COD Zombies experiences, Mob of the Dead has a fond spot in the hearts of many Call of Duty players worldwide.
In Mob of the Dead, players are forced to survive waves of Zombies on a map built to mirror Alcatraz, the infamous prison in San Francisco. The map was such a hit with players that it resurfaced in 2018’s Blackout (Black Ops 4) and 2020’s Rebirth Island (Warzone).
Michael Madsen’s Black Ops 2 role saw him portray Michael ‘Finn’ O’Leary, a bookmaker turned survivor imprisoned in Alcatraz. O’Leary is a likeable character with a savage streak, and the jokes he cracks made him a fan-favourite character.
