EA Sports is bringing back college basketball video games. In a post on social media, EA Sports announced a return to the sport with a simple message.
“Bring the Madness,” the post said. “Let’s run it back.”
As far as when the first College Basketball game since 2009 will release, Matt Brown of Extra Points reports that the first game should come for the 2028-2029 season. That lines up with what Insider Gaming has heard upon talking to sources.
Regarding the NCAA, Brown says that the NCAA will participate in the game as a licensed partner but the game won’t be called “NCAA Basketball”
“The working title mentioned in the paperwork I inspected was ‘”‘EA Sports College Basketball’,” he said.
As late as December 2024, I had been told from multiple sources that there were plenty of discussions within EA Sports—and 2K for that matter—about a college basketball game. At the time, it was unknown how far along talks were but there were groups “pushing heavily” for it.
Multiple sources have told me that both EA and Take Two (2K) have had continued internal conversations about a college basketball game. Unknown how far along talks are, but there are groups within both companies pushing heavily for it.
Insider Gaming will have more information as it becomes available.
