Riot Unveils League of Legends Game Changers Circuit

Riot Games has introduced the League of Legends Game Changers (LGC) circuit, an EMEA League competition aimed exclusively at females. The first tournament under the new header will be the LGC Rising event, which Riot has dubbed ‘the first step in building a meaningful competitive ecosystem for women across the region.’

This news comes after more than four years of success of hte VALORANT Game Changers circuit, also backed by Riot Games.

‘Exciting New Journey for Women’s Competitive LoL’

In a press release published by Riot Games, it was revealed:

We are giddy with excitement to introduce you all to League of Legends Game Changers (LGC), the official EMEA women’s League of Legends competition.

LGC Rising is the inaugural tournament under this new banner, and the first step in building a meaningful competitive ecosystem for women across the region.

Creating a safe and welcoming environment where anyone can play and compete is something we’ve always felt passionate about at Riot, and we know you feel the same. We’re delighted to share details with you and write the first chapter of this exciting new journey for women’s competitive LoL in our region.

The LGC Rising tournament is open to ‘all individuals who identify as women’, and teams will enter the fray via direct invitation and an official qualification path. It was confirmed that the three finalist teams from the Equal Esports Cup, soon to be held in Germany, will receive slots.

Elsewhere, an open qualifier will kick off in August, giving EMEA teams a chance to land a spot in the LGC Rising event.

Here’s the full schedule, per a report from Riot Games:

  • Open Qualifier: August (Date TBC)
  • Group Stage: September 13–14, 20–21, 27–29
  • Playoffs: October 10–12 and 14–15
