Electronic Arts has unveiled the grandest playtest update yet for skate, the upcoming and long-awaited skateboarding sequel to Skate 3 (2010). The update is set to hit on July 2, and users can sign up to be a Skate Insider now to get access to the ambitious test.
The team also revealed that skate can now be wishlisted on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and the Epic Game Store. It’s the easiest way to get a tip when Early Access kicks off, so it’s worthwhile doing if you’ve got a few seconds spare.

In a blog post on the Electronic Arts website, it was revealed that skate’s biggest playtest update ever is set to drop on July 2:
We’ve got a big one today, so buckle up. Coming July 2, 2025, we’ll be dropping our BIGGEST playtest update.

Insider registration on June 27, 2025. If you are signed up as an Insider before June 27 you will be invited in waves to the next playtest!
The super-sized update, 0.27, was summarised in a neat, one-minute trailer:
In Update 0.27, a range of upgrades, fixes, and performance improvements have been integrated following direct feedback from the testing community. This means that small details have been enhanced, more pedestrians and vehicles are out and about, and the UI has been overhauled substantially.
There will now be 150 players per server, and more challenges have been added to San Vansterdam for testers to explore and complete. The playtest will now feature a whopping 140 challenges after Update 0.27 hits.
Also, character customisation has been enhanced, as has the map itself, with new areas being added and existing areas being upgraded considerably by the team.
