How to Get a Purple Lightsaber in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3

The Star Wars celebration in Fortnite is in full swing with a mini-season dedicated entirely to the franchise set far, far away and a recent update introduced the fan-favorite Purple Lightsaber.

Lightsabers were already in place for Fortnite this season following the big update, but the latest drop saw Mace Windu make his debut and he will remain as an NPC on the map until the end of the season.

Finding the NPC himself won’t grant a Purple Lightsaber, however, and there is no guaranteed way to get the weapon. Instead, it’s all down to luck and following the steps we’ve outlined below.

Where to Get a Fortnite Purple Lightsaber

Purple Lightsabers in Fortnite are only obtained by interacting with the Mace Windu hologram that appears on the map. However, the location and timing of these holograms is random.

Further complicating the matter, there are four characters that can appear in a hologram; Mace Windu, Rey, Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Maul—though the latter pair are marked red on the map, compared to the blue of Rey and Windu.

Head toward any blue marker that appears on your map and check to see if it display a hologram of Rey or Mace Windu. If Rey is displayed and you only want a Purple Lightsaber, do not interact with the hologram as you can only have one Lightsaber at a time.

Interact with a blue hologram with Mace Windu to get your hands on a Purple Lightsaber and the Force Pull ability, which pulls in anything and anyone nearby. It’s a great attack to use, particularly when followed up with Lightsaber melee attacks.

Can You Buy a Purple Lightsaber in Fortnite?

Unfortunately, you can’t buy a Purple Lightsaber in Fortnite from an NPC, nor is there any Lightsabers available to purchase as Pickaxes in the Item Shop.

The continued absence of Lightsaber Pickaxes in Fortnite is a major point of contention in the community, and, to be frank, it’s baffling as to why they haven’t been introduced.

Whether they do arrive before the end of the season remains to be seen but considering there’s a stacked Battle Pass that includes a Jedi/Sith skin for Evie that doesn’t have a Lightsaber, it doesn’t seem likely to take place.
