Two CDL Teams Have Plans to Sell Their Spots to Saudi Organisations, It’s Claimed

It was recently claimed by Thomas ‘ZooMaa‘ Paparatto during an episode of The Flank that two Call of Duty League teams are seeking to sell their spot to organisations from Saudi Arabia. This news comes following expanded investment from Saudi-backed companies into the Call of Duty competitive ecosystem.

It’s not a bold claim – Team Falcons secured the Vegas spot for this season, breaking into the Call of Duty League with an all-Saudi roster that has since been replaced almost entirely by North American talent.

Takeover

In the episode of The Flank that was clipped by Breaking Point on social media, ZooMaa said:

I’m hearing that two franchised teams might be selling at the end of the year, and the two teams buying in are both Saudi teams.

I don’t know who those Saudi teams are, I’m just telling you.

Here’s the clip:

The Vegas Falcons had a horrific season until the last week or so. The team failed to secure a single series win since day one up until last week, when the revitalised roster was able to dominate OpTic Texas. The all-Saudi squad secured the worst loss record in esports history before North American players (Pred, Arcitys, Priestahh) came in to shape things up.

Saudi Arabia is getting increasingly invested in the esports space, and that naturally includes the Call of Duty League. The Esports World Cup Foundation is a key backer and sponsor of the League, and Call of Duty has a double-header spot at the Esports World Cup with Warzone and Black Ops 6.
