Days Gone Remastered will be released worldwide on April 25, emerging almost six years to the day that the original game was released on PlayStation 4. The original title was hampered at launch by bugs, but it was eventually polished by Bend Studio into a great game. Now that the next iteration is here, I’m answering the question: ‘Is Days Gone Remastered worth it?’
After all, Days Gone Remastered is a full-price, premium product (unless you’re securing the upgrade). It stands to reason that it’ll need plenty of meat on the bones for players to feel satisfied with their investment, but just how good is Days Gone Remastered?
Let’s find out.
What’s New in Days Gone Remastered?
Aside from the technological upgrades that have enhanced Days Gone (especially on PS5 Pro), Bend Studio has added new content, modes, and other extras to the open-world, post-apocalyptic game.
Undead hordes have increased in size, lighting and textures are better, photo mode has been improved, and a new ‘Horde Assault’ mode has been added. The team at Bend Studio has also added permadeath mode to Days Gone Remastered, which is a mode reserved exclusively for the die-hard fans who want the toughest challenge possible.
There’s also a nifty speedrun mode for the fans who want to prove how efficient they are at scouring the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Oregon.
Is Days Gone Remastered Worth It?
Days Gone Remastered is an evolution of the first game that was released six years ago.
I can firmly say that Days Gone is one of the best open-world zombie games you’ll ever play. I thoroughly rinsed and enjoyed every minute of the game in 2019, soaking up the extensive story, smattering of side content, and various upgrade paths that the game offers.
In Days Gone Remastered, you assume control of Deacon St. John, a badass biker turned bounty hunter with a mission to find his wife amidst the terrifying zombie apocalypse. Along the way, you’ll befriend and aid settlements, upgrade a sweet motorcycle, and unlock new weapons to deal with overwhelming undead hordes of ‘Freakers’.
The side content is plentiful, the story is long and meaty, and the new content Bend Studio has added to the game only expands that.
Days Gone Remastered is well worth a purchase, but as I’ve not played it yet, I can’t guarantee it’s bug-free. I’ll update this when the game has been released with the latest information.
