The new year is right around the corner, and many gamers are eagerly awaiting what’s to come in 2023. If a long-time Konami producer is to be believed, 2023 will have a lot.
Noriaki Okamura, a producer for the Metal Gear Solid franchise, said in an interview with Famitsu that next year is one that has been “long-awaited”. On top of that, he claimed that “2023 will be a year of many announcements”.
Without giving any specifics, when Okamura says 2023 will have a number of announcements, it should be believed that he’s speaking solely in the case of Konami. If that is the case, it opens up a number of possibilities for the publisher. It’s been a while since fans have heard anything about Metal Gear Solid. With rumblings of a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake continuing to make the rounds, that’s one thing to keep an eye on in the new year.
Other reports claim Konami is set to bring back both the Castlevania and Silent Hill franchises. If 2023 truly is a “long-awaited” year, then fans might be getting far more than just one or two game revivals.
From a sports standpoint, Konami could be making major changes to its soccer franchise eFootball after a poor reception. A new trademark was filed recently for “Winning Eleven”, which was the series’ name in North America and Japan before taking on the Pro Evolution Soccer name globally in 2007.
What do you think Konami has in store for 2023?
