Riot Games has released a preview of what League of Legends players can expect from LoL Patch 26.13.
This update is especially important as it is the update that MSI 2026, one of the biggest esports tournaments of the year, will be played on.
Because of that, underplayed champions like Kindred and Vex are receiving buffs to try and shake up the meta.
It is also the patch that new LoL champion Locke will release, the only new character coming to the game this year.
However, while the AP assassin will be terrorising solo queue, he won’t be enabled for the esports event.

Phroxzon Explains Upcoming Changes
As usual, lead gameplay designer Matt ‘Phroxzon’ Leung-Harrison has previewed the upcoming patch and added some extra context.
As expected, he confirmed Riot is trying to add variety to the pro meta for MSI:
“At a high level, changes this patch are mostly aimed at making some of the fringe picks a little more viable and tailored towards the situations teams might want to pick them, especially in later series of the MSI tournament.”

Phroxzon added that Imperial Mandate has been picked up by some midlaners like Galio, but wants it to be a more appealing item for supports:
“This set of changes is meant to position it to be more fantasy forward for Support champions while also giving it a bit of a power up.
“It’s not really the ‘best item’ on any support at current tuning and for an item with as strong kit synergies as this, it probably should be if it’s appropriately powerful.”
