During a The Nerd Circle podcast, film director and producer Zack Snyder confirmed that he’s working on a Rebel Moon RPG. Known for his director roles in the likes of 300, Man of Steel, and more, Snyder said the game was being developed on a ‘ridiculous scale’.
Snyder said: “The one thing I’m really having a good time with, and I don’t even know if I’m supposed to talk about it, but, you know, this RPG that we’re doing, it’s just literally insane. So immersive, so intense, and so huge. We talked about how we would do the game and we just said, let’s go.”
He continued, “All I’m going to say is that it was pitched to me, because I’ve always wanted to do an RPG, and they were like ‘We can do it at this scale, or we can do it at a ridiculous scale’. And I was like ‘Ridiculous scale!’. They were like ‘Tell us everything about the universe, what’s happening’ and I was like ‘Fine, happy to do it, let’s go all the way’. It’s going to be the completely realized universe, and it’s really going to be fun.”
No other details such as who is developing and publishing the project were revealed. However, in 2008, it was claimed by Variety that Zack Snyder signed a three-year game deal with EA. “Zack Snyder has a fresh and bold creative style that resonates with our core audience,” EA Games’ Frank Gibeau said in a statement.
According to the deal, EA would have owned the intellectual property of the games, but if the projects were turned into films then they will be produced by Snyder’s Cruel & Unusual Films banner.
Of course, none of those games materialized, but it’s possible that Snyder returned to the publisher recently to talk about the potential of working together again.
Who do you think will be developing Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon RPG?
