Xbox Controller Leak Teases New Special Edition Release, Possibly Coming August 2024

Loosely translated from reliable leaker Billbil-kun via Dealabs, the next Xbox Wireless Controller is possibly the “Sky Cipher Special Edition.”

Billbil-kun revealed a variety of key details about the upcoming controller. They claim Microsoft will officially announce the controller on July 31, 2024, also when pre-orders should open for fans.

They also estimate that the actual release date will fall around August 13, 2024. However, Dealabs clarifies that they also “have several candidate dates,” so that isn’t quite a concrete date.

In the report, Dealabs further claims the price tag will be $69.99 USD, or about 69.99 euros. This would be consistent with previous Xbox special edition controllers.

However, Billbil-kun did not have concrete details about the Sky Cipher’s appearance. They only extrapolate that it will likely have blue elements, given that “Sky” is in the name.

Dealabs could not confirm if it will feature Haptic feedback, either. Previous Xbox special edition controllers, such as the Stellar Shift, include features like textured gripping, Bluetooth technology, and more.

Xbox just recently announced a giveaway featuring a Deadpool-themed controller. It generated a lot of buzz for its unusual design, which is just as amusingly crass as similar tie-ins with the upcoming Deadpool film. Deadpool and Wolverine releases as soon as next week, further boosting Xbox’s collaboration.

Last March, Xbox also introduced a new Fallout controller that players can customize, tying into the success of Amazon’s live-action series.

  • The current controllers have haptic feedback in the triggers so not sure why there is a question as to why this would or wouldn’t.
