On July 29, the Xbox 360 digital marketplace is set to close forever, marking the end of an era. Before it goes offline, Microsoft is giving users one last chance to secure some games at low, low prices, putting up a pretty decent sale on a wide variety of games featured in the store. Some age-old favourites have been reduced to just a dollar or two – and this could be the last chance you’ll ever have to get them in your library.
Prepare to Leave
The Xbox 360 marketplace is scheduled for closure – on Monday, July 29, it’ll disappear forever, which means that now is the time to secure any games you always wanted to play but never invested in. Don’t forget – many of these games are backwards compatible on the more modern units, such as the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles, so your investment won’t be in vain.
If you want, you can be like The Completionist, who spent $23,000 buying every digital Wii U and 3DS game ahead of their respective stores closing.
Microsoft published a blog post on the Xbox Wire outlining the situation with the mega sale, with the team updating various bits and pieces and adding or removing games as needed — but as of July 16, the team is relatively certain nothing more will be changed.

If you’re really being hit hard by the departure of the Xbox 360 marketplace, you can invest in the ‘Xbox 360 Heritage Collection’, which is a series of t-shirts, goodies, and other items featuring classic, nostalgic branding. Also, users can download a dynamic background on consoles that’s reminiscent of the original ‘Blades’ background from almost 20 years ago.
