WWE 2K26 upgrades The Island with Triple Threats, Fatal 4-Way matches, MyTAG teams, and a more non-linear story.
Insider Gaming first reported that the Island Mode would return in WWE 2K26 and would center on three factions. Now, the latest Ringside Report from Visual Concepts shares all the details about what to look forward to this year, including updates to the mode and multiplayer.
The Three Factions and Their WWE Superstar Leaders
WWE 2K26 is taking players back to The Island. This time, you’re pledging your allegiance to and fighting for your tribe.
The Order of Tradition, Order of Shadows, and Order of Anarchy are the three factions you have to choose from. The Order of Tradition, led by Cody Rhodes, is for superstars who want to honor the legacy of the squared circle. This faction is also defined by people who gravitate toward WWE’s showmanship.
CM Punk leads the Order of Anarchy. Described as being for those who want to question the concept of rules, WWE 2K26 cover Superstar CM Punk leads the way here. It’s he’s just being the most creative of the three groups.
Rhea Ripley leads the Order of Shadows. Yep, WWE’s resident “Mami” opens her arms to all “freaks and weirdos” who “wish to bring that weirdness out from the shadows and reshape The Island.”
Each group is also fighting for control of The Scrapyard, an arena shown off in trailers that focus on new collision animations and weapon upgrades.
The faction you choose will decide the viewpoint your character has on events as they unfold in the main story. However, progression is more non-linear than last year. This allows players to tackle missions in the order they choose. Additionally, each group also has a new landmark location and dedicated PvP arena for players to explore.
Multiplayer Updates to The Island in WWE 2K26
There are several new updates to the multiplayer features on The Island. Triple Threats and Fatal 4-Ways are now selectable match options. There’s also MyTAG, which lets players form a long-term tag team with a friend and participate in co-op 2v2 PvP.
Seasonal Ranked Play is now included. However, ranks reset each Season to coincide with the new Ringside Pass. Ranks range from Bronze 4 to Platinum 1, and there are specific leaderboards for 1v1 and 2v2 PvP modes, as well as Championships and Order Reputation.
