Following the lengthy Developer Deep Dive, hype levels for the upcoming S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Heart of Chornobyl appear at an all-time high. From the gameplay the studio revealed, we know more about the environment, factions, quest mechanics, and overall immersion. It’s a serious GOTY contender already. But when is the Stalker 2 release date?
When is Stalker 2 Coming Out?
Following the most recent delay, which is number two or three (I lost count!), Stalker 2 now officially launches on November 20. I don’t know about you, but that seems like such a long way off. But this year is moving along at a rapid pace. We’re already more than halfway through the year, with so many fantastic games in the rearview and more to come. Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will likely cement itself as one of the most thrilling, immersive, and time-sucking open-world first-person shooters of the year.
In fact, from what the studio revealed during its Deep Dive, you don’t have to follow the main story when the game releases. You can completely ignore the characters and quests to explore the Zone in its entirety. However, there are four endings to the main story, and each playthrough can take 40 to 50 hours to complete. That’s a lot of content to run through later this year!

What Systems Does Stalker 2 Support?
On launch day, you can play Stalker 2 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and/or Xbox Game Pass. Unfortunately, there’s still no word about the game coming to PlayStation 5. It’s clear developer GSC Game World took some sort of deal with Xbox to launch the open-world first-person shooter on its systems first. I guess it’s just a matter of when the game comes to PlayStation 5, as the recent trilogy pack launched on both PS5 and PS4 simultaneously.
That said, I highly recommend playing Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl on PC. It’s where the franchise began, and it’s going to have the most active community and modding scene—should the game support modding—from the get-go!
