Fortnite continues to go strong, and a fresh update is on the horizon with the deployment of v40.20, which will bring a host of new content into the game.
Currently in the midst of Chapter 7, Season 2, Epic Games has had a turbulent year with a delay to the start of the new season alongside significant layoffs that have put the company in the spotlight.
Fortnite continues to evolve as planned, however, and Insider Gaming has all the important details on the drop of Fortnite v40.20.
When is The Next Fortnite Update?

Fortnite’s next update is set to arrive on Thursday, April 16, when Epic Games deploys v40.20 into the fold.

While there will be downtime to disrupt your gaming sessions, it’s far from the end of Chapter 7, Season 2, which is due to continue until early June.
However, there will be a new Fortnite Festival season, with an accompanying Battle Pass, alongside some other major changes.
What’s Coming in Fortnite v40.20?
While a new season of Fortnite Festival will catch the eye, the biggest change coming in Fortnite v40.20 is the transition of Save The World into a free-to-play mode.
Previously, Save The World was only available for purchase, but it will now become another core free-to-play mode in Fortnite, alongside Battle Royale, Festival, and Fortnite OG.

For the main Battle Royale modes, players will be able to enjoy Act 2 of Showdown, continuing the battle between the Ice King and the Foundation, with the second act titled ‘The Elites’. This is the second of three acts, which will be followed by an Epilogue and an end-of-season live event later in the year.
In terms of new store content, new skins for WWE’s Liv Morgan and Stone Cold Steve Austin are set to arrive, just in time for Wrestlemania weekend, and players can prepare for new Sidekicks, Emotes, and more in the update.
