Black Ops 6 once again revives a glorious game mode I hope never dies—Prop Hunt. The CoD community is already excited to dispense with guns and demonstrate their hiding skills, and I’m here to share the latest details on Prop Hunt’s release in Black Ops 6.
If you’ve never had the chance to disguise yourself as a lamppost and experience the sheer audacity of trying to blend into the map—sticking out like the sorest of thumbs—I envy you. Over the years, Prop Hunt has had me balance a car on top of District’s marketplace in Call of Duty 4, and assume the form of a bicycle on a map with very few bikes.
Prop Hunt is a unique game mode I’m pleasantly surprised to see included in Black Ops 6. It was announced alongside the Season One content update, but its launch is something of a mystery.
Do we Know the Prop Hunt Release Date in Black Ops 6?
Prop Hunt is coming to Black Ops 6 “In-Season” during Season One.
Neither Activision nor Treyarch has yet to issue a concrete release date for Prop Hunt; however, we know it’s set to arrive during the middle of the shooter’s first proper season. We’ve seen many seasonal roadmaps down the years advertising a wealth of new Call of Duty content for the weeks to come, but it’s not all dropped straightaway.
We don’t know if Prop Hunt is arriving during a random week, or if it’s being saved for the midseason Reloaded update. Regardless, Prop Hunt didn’t launch with Season One’s debut, but it’s almost certainly dropping in the next few weeks—stay tuned for updates.
What is Prop Hunt in Black Ops 6?
In Prop Hunt, if you’re on the attacking team, you need to use audio cues and identify abnormalities on the map to shoot and destroy enemy players posing as random objects, whereas if you’re defending, you need to blend into the environment, use distractions, and move around to avoid the threat of enemy gunfire and survive the round.
It’s as bonkers as it sounds, but the formula works. You get a finite amount of changes per round—as a defender—allowing you to metamorphose into a new item and a limited amount of stuns to bedazzle attackers. As an attacker, you have a gun, and a Grenade or two: So use your arsenal (and senses) wisely.
Destroying all defending players wins the round, or outlasting attackers gives the team the point.
