What’s Included in the Stormgate Early Access Packs? – Answered

There’s a little confusion surrounding the upcoming RTS from developer Frost Giant Studios. Stormgate bills itself as a free-to-play, next-gen RTS. However, you can’t actually play the game on launch day without spending a little money. Here’s what’s included in the Stormgate Early Access Packs on Steam!

Everything in the Stormgate Early Access Packs

While Stormgate will inevitably launch as a free-to-play real-time strategy game sometime in mid-August, if you want to play the game on its official release date of July 30, then you must purchase one of the game’s Early Access Packs. There are three in total: Early Access Pack, Deluxe Early Access Pack, and Ultimate Early Access Pack, which grow increasingly more expensive depending on the benefits you’d like to enjoy early!

  • Early Access Pack ($24.99)
    • Amara (Vanguard Hero)
    • Chapter 1 Missions (Vanguard Campaign)
    • Vanguard Gold (Army Accent)
  • Deluxe Early Access Pack ($39.99)
    • Amara (Vanguard Hero)
    • Maloc (Infernal Hero)
    • Auralanna (Celestial Hero)
    • Chapter 1 Missions (Vanguard Campaign)
    • Vanguard Gold (Army Accent)
    • Chicken Supporter (Pet)
  • Ultimate Early Access Pack ($59.99)
    • Amara (Vanguard Hero)
    • Maloc (Infernal Hero)
    • Auralanna (Celestial Hero)
    • Chapter 1 Missions (Vanguard Campaign)
    • Chapter 2 Missions (Vanguard Campaign)
    • Chapter 3 Missions (Vanguard Campaign)
    • Vanguard Gold (Army Accent)
    • Chicken Supporter (Pet)
    • Firestorm (Fog of War Shader)

Should You Wait to Play Stormgate?

That solely depends on you. Are you a long-time fan of the real-time strategy genre? Did you grow up playing Commander and Conquer, Company of Heroes, and Supreme Commander? If yes, then you may not wish to wait. Those people who will dive in on July 30 will absolutely wind up with an unfair advantage in the competitive mode, as they’ll understand the game’s mechanics and units far better than free-to-play players.

Alternatively, if you don’t want to pay any money—you just want a free-to-play RTS—then wait the two weeks or so until the game launches for free in mid-August!

The world desperately needs a new, big-budget, real-time strategy game. The genre, while doing well within its niche community, doesn’t obtain the level of hype or player base it deserves, like in days long gone. Do you remember Company of Heroes and StarCraft 2 after school each day? We need that level of hype. In […]

As someone who grew up playing the real-time strategy genre on my family’s computer in the dining room corner, I cannot wait for the next big genre release. It appears we’re not far off, either. With titles such as Company of Heroes and Command and Conquer falling by the wayside, it’s time for a new […]

When is Skull and Bones Coming to Steam? – Answered

If you were one of the many who couldn’t wait for Skull and Bones on Steam, well, you’re not alone. I was among the many playing the game on Ubisoft Connect, though I prefer to have my entire game library on one platform. That said, if you were wise enough to wait, it’s nearly over. […]
