Popular Call of Duty leaky boy TheGhostofHope has claimed that Warzone 2 will be getting a new resurgence map in 2023.
The claims come following Ghost’s report last month that the resurgence maps from the original Warzone will be completely removed. If true, this could suggest that they’ll be no resurgence maps for players for at least half a year.
According to TheGhostofHope, development studios Beenox and Toys for Bob are developing “a Resurgence Map for Warzone 2.0 set to release in Mid 2023.”
Beenox developed the first resurgence map, Rebirth Island map and have continue to support Warzone throughout its release cycle. Toys for Bob have also worked on Warzone, helping to develop Verdansk ’84 and Warzone Pacific’s Caldera.
Insider Gaming can corroborate that several maps are in development for Warzone 2, one of which is a smaller resurgence map.
In May 2022, I exclusively reported via eXputer that a new smaller map was in development for the game. Back then, I reported that the map will be similar in size to Rebirth Island from the original Warzone.
It wasn’t clear back then on when the new map could release, but TheGhostofHope’s claims do make logical sense to coincide with Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2’s post-launch schedule. It’s expected that a second, larger map will launch in year 2 of Modern Warfare 2.
Warzone 2 is set to launch on November 16 on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The new Battle Royale experience will launch with the map Al Mazrah with the brand new DMZ mode experience.
During the COD NEXT event, Infinity Ward said that more on this new experience will be revealed at a later point.
