It has been confirmed that Warzone 2 will receive a Ranked Mode in Season Three, following the deployment of the challenging, leaderboard-driven mode in Modern Warfare II today. Not only that, but Plunder is also set to make a return, much to the excitement of fans that have long since grown tired of the battle royale grind.
It’s nothing but a good thing that a sense of diversity is returning to the Warzone ecosystem. For a while now, the player count has been dropping and viewership is dwindling on platforms like Twitch and YouTube, and more creators are abandoning the game with each passing day. There’s such a huge change coming with the introduction of a Ranked Mode that it may revitalise the scene somewhat.
Finally Flex your Abilities
Since Warzone launched in 2020, it has been by definition a casual game. With the absence of any real ranking system or tier system, it’s a game that boasts a linear style of play, with players simply loading in over and over again to no real end.
In Season Three, a Ranked Mode will be introduced to Warzone 2, according to Call of Duty UK on Twitter, and that’ll shake things up for sure. Now, players will have a defined goal to aim for, climbing the ranks, ascending the tiers, and attempting to become graded as one of the best Warzone players around.
If it’ll assume the identity of Modern Warfare II’s new Ranked Mode, then players will even be able to unlock exclusive skins and cosmetics just for ranking up online. It may also be susceptible to tighter restrictions, such as the prohibition of certain weapons, equipment, or perks.
For fans of respawn-driven modes, Plunder is also set to make a return in Season Three. This was first introduced early on in the Warzone lifecycle, offering up a much more carefree game mode to players that wanted a change from the typical battle royale experience. It’s not known how Warzone 2’s Plunder will change from the first iteration, but we’re sure they’ll do something to make it stand out from what already existed.
If you didn’t already know, the Season Two update for Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2 is available right now on all platforms. It brings a new multiplayer map, five new weapons, bundles, mid-season events, and most importantly, a new Resurgence map in Warzone 2.
Happy hunting!
