It has been revealed that the developers working on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora were given exclusive access to future film scripts from the franchise. This was something made clear by game director Magnus Jensen during an interview with ComicBook.com, who said that it was to make sure ideas weren’t essentially ‘cannibalised’.
‘Fit Into The Timeline’
In the interview with ComicBook, Jensen stressed that the team working on Frontiers of Pandora had access to ‘some upcoming movie’ scripts from the Avatar franchise. It was revealed earlier this year that there are four more movies planned in the series, and Frontiers of Pandora apparently fits quite neatly into the timeline.
Here’s what Jensen said:
For us to be able to properly fit into the timeline — because we started work on this game before Avatar: The Way of Water was out — yeah, we had access to the script, not just to Avatar: The Way of Water, but some upcoming movies as well. Various amounts, of course.
He backed up his explanation by stressing that it was to allow the developers to properly ‘gel’ with the series and to make sure Frontiers of Pandora feels like it’s part of the same world.
Following that sizeable revelation, Jensen went about his business, talking about some of the game’s features and some of the easter eggs that players will be able to uncover as they explore the vast open world of Pandora.
The full game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on December 7th.
