The Witcher 4 team has got their hands on Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s lead gameplay designer, Karel Kolmann.
CD Projekt’s next big title, The Witcher 4, has a long way to go before release, with developers confirming that the game will not arrive earlier than 2027. While the developers work on the upcoming instalment, they have been hiring new developers to the team, with the latest addition being from one of the most popular games of 2025.
KCD2’s Lead Gameplay Designer Will be a Senior Quest Designer for The Witcher 4
Spotted by TheGamer, Karel Kolmann, the lead gameplay designer at Warhorse Studios, has confirmed his move to the The Witcher 4 team on LinkedIn. Kolmann was part of Warhorse Studios for over eight years, where he held roles such as writer/game designer, senior game designer/scripter, and lead gameplay designer.
During that time, Kolmann owned several quests and gameplay features and designed and scripted the title’s hardcore mode. He made the quest design for 11 quests, which included writing all the dialogue and cutscenes. He scripted two of them and also owned, designed, and wrote the crime system, which is “How NPCs react to all player actions” in the game’s open world setting.
Moreover, KCD 2’s lead gameplay designer also designed and balanced the stealth and perception systems of NPCs. Lastly, he worked as a designer on large-scale battles and combat. Now he has become the senior quest designer for CD Projekt Red, which means we will get to see more of those exciting quests in The Witcher 4 as well.
In other news, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s third story DLC is arriving this month. Additionally, the developer of The Witcher 4 doesn’t know how to top The Witcher 3.
