The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 Will Release in April 2026

Renowned Japanese video game designer and director Shigeru Miyamoto, whose name sparks excitement in fans’ hearts, made a thrilling announcement today via the official Nintendo X account (formerly Twitter). He confirmed the release date for the highly anticipated “new Super Mario animated movie,” which is set to hit the screens on April 24, 2026, in Japan and other regions soon after. Miyamoto also shared that Nintendo and the Illumination team will collaborate “to make it a fun movie”, hence, fans should look forward to The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2.

The release date announcement has arrived just hours before the Nintendo Direct stream, which will focus on Switch games in the second half of 2024. The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 could be a part of the event, and fans might receive a new teaser about the upcoming movies. Fingers crossed!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie, a global sensation upon its release in 2023, managed to win hearts all over the globe. The movie was not just a success but a phenomenon, bringing in more than $1.3 billion through the global box office.
