In a new interview, The Last of Us composer Gustavo Santaolalla has hinted that The Last of Us Part 2 will be getting a remaster.
It sounds odd to be talking about a The Last of US Part 2 Remaster, but that’s exactly what was hinted at by the game’s composer Gustavo Santaolalla in a recent interview with Blender.
Santaolalla’s character can be found at the start of the game playing the banjo in Jackson and whilst there’#s currently no way to interact, that’s exactly what was hinted at in the interview. According to Santaolalla, you’ll be able to request songs in the new version of the game.
Unfortunately, a “remaster” per se wasn’t actually mentioned, but the hint has led fans to speculate. It’s possible that the new feature could be a part of a new Director’s cut of the game, too, but whatever the case, it seems like a new version of the game is on the horizon.
Sony has released several ‘directors cuts’ in recent years, with the likes of a Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut and Death Stranding Director’s Cut both coming to PlayStation 5.
With the success of The Last of Us HBO show and a ‘delayed’ The Last of Us Multiplayer in the works, a Director’s Cut of Part 2 makes sense to capitilize on the show’s recent success.
On The Last of Us multiplayer, Naughty Dog recently said, “We know many of you have been looking forward to hearing more about our The Last of Us Multiplayer game. We’re incredibly proud of the job our studio has done thus far, but as development has continued, we’ve realized what is best for the game is to give it more time.”
“Our team will continue to work on the project, as well as our other games in development, including a brand new single-player experience; we look forward to sharing more soon.”
