The Division 2 Team ‘Reevaluating’ Seasons 2.0 and Seasonal Characters

In a new post on X, the developers behind The Division 2 confirmed plans to re-evaluate Seasons 2.0 and the potential for Seasonal Characters.

The team states that it has “the goal of progressing without” Seasonal Characters. The decision followed “thorough examination and discussions with the team.”

The Division 2 team also says fans should expect more information after it has “ironed out the finer details,” with a livestream and PTS on the way. It seems likely the devs will move away from Seasonal Characters if possible.

The team also reassured fans that “this change will not impact the previously announced Year 6 plans.” Fans quickly praised the team’s response to feedback regarding Seasonal Characters for The Division 2, and the open communication.

The developers recently revealed a full events roadmap for July 2024. It currently includes Target Hercules, with Hercules League, SHD Exposed, and Guardians events coming soon to round out the month.

Ubisoft recently canceled The Division Heartland, years after first announcing it. In an earnings report, Ubisoft cited “increased selectivity of its investments.”

Back in September 2023, Ubisoft did announce that The Division 3 was in development. This came as part of an announcement for Julian Gerighty taking a key role for the Division brand. So, the series still seems to have a solid future, particularly with Project Resolve.

  • I’m glad that they are rolling back on this decision. Seasonal Characters are not the way forward with this game. It would’ve been completely immersion breaking and killed a lot of the motivation that I have to play this game.
